The D: Ask a Question

Where can I find information about Duke's Pre-Med, Pre-Law or Pre-Business programs?

Although you cannot declare a Pre-Med, Pre-Health, Pre-Law or Pre-Business major at Duke, we do have programs in place to assure that you are fully prepared to apply to the professional school of your choice.

Pre-Med or Pre-Health: If you are considering a career in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or another health profession, your academic schedule should include courses required by those schools. Although you will take an extensive number of science courses, you do not need to major in a science. A record of superior achievement in any field, combined with genuine scientific ability, is expected of competitive candidates.

Pre-Law: If you are considering a career in law, you should seek breadth in your undergraduate course program along with specialization in one or more areas. Choose a major on the basis of your interests or an area that will help you work in a particular area of law.

Pre-Business: If you are interested in graduate study or a career in business, choose a major that reflects your strongest interests. You might add courses in accounting, calculus, economics, statistics, and computer science. If you are interested in international business, you can focus on language courses and courses that are relevant to the parts of the world you might travel or work in.
