Duke has 23 on-campus computer labs scattered across East Campus and West Campus and most are open 24 hours a day while classes are in session. Labs offer a variety of computers running on Windows, Macintosh, and Linux platforms. Students can register for 90-minute workshops to learn about popular software and computing skills such as Web design and using graphics and typography. They also can download additional computer training materials day and night. Check out Academic Technology Services for details. The Multimedia Project Studio (MPS) features high-end, integrated hardware and software that encourage imaginative creation and editing of graphics, Web pages, audio, and video. Production tools include industry standard software for video editing, Web design and animation, and graphic design. Fifteen top-of-the-line workstations are equipped with LCD displays and specialized peripherals, such as drawing tablets, scanners, video digitizers, and DVD burners. Staff members are on hand to answer questions and help students plan their multimedia projects. |
