Applying to Duke: How To Apply: InterviewsRegular and Early Decision | International Applicants | Transfer Students | Homeschooled Applicants | Information for Students with Disabilities | Interviews | Standardized Testing Requirements | Credit & Advanced Placement | Our Policy on Recommendations
While not required for admission, interviews provide an opportunity for the applicant to learn about Duke as well as an opportunity for a representative of the university to learn about that applicant's personal strengths. If a committee is present in their area, the majority of applicants find it possible to have an interview in their home region with a member of Duke's Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee (AAAC). To be eligible for an interview, please initiate your Duke application file by October 19, 2009 for Early Decision and by December 10, 2009 for Regular Decision. To initiate your file, you should submit one of the student parts of the Application: the Duke Student Supplement, or the student portion of the Common or Universal Application. Please submit/postmark the remaining parts of your Duke Application by November 1, 2009 for Early Decision and by January 2, 2010 for Regular Decision. Interviews are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited by the resources of your local interviewing committee. A local Duke AAAC member will contact you via phone or email to arrange an interview. Interviews are typically conducted in a central location (e.g. coffee shop, high school guidance office), and last 30 minutes - 1 hour. We recommend that you dress in business casual attire, and that you come prepared to talk about your interests and activities. Also, please feel free to ask questions about Duke! Because of the large number of applicants and limited number of committee members, we cannot guarantee an interview for every applicant. However, committee members will make a concerted effort to contact the students in their areas who have met the interview deadlines. Duke does not offer on-campus interviews. Additionally, we are unable to interview transfer candidates. |
