The Duke Campus: Visiting Duke

There are many words we could (and do) use to describe Duke's campus. Gorgeous, surprising, pristine, impressive, sprawling...and we could go on and on about the Gothic architecture, the temperate climate, the rolling lawns, the sky-scraping Chapel, and the state-of-the-art medical and athletic facilities. But you really have to see the Duke campus to believe it. So, please come and check it out—take a tour, visit a class, stroll the Gardens, talk to the students...maybe even visit the Lemur Center. Remember, this is the South, and this is Duke. We love visitors, and we'd love to welcome you to campus. You won't be disappointed. If you'd like a preview of some of the things you'll see here, be sure to check out Duke at a Glance. And if you want some information at your fingertips, we've created a Quick Facts guide that includes basic information about the Duke campus, our undergraduates, academic offerings, life at Duke, and admissions, along with Web links to corresponding sections of our Web site.

PLANNING A VISIT TO DUKE

One of the great things about visiting Duke is the weather—you can essentially come anytime and not have to worry much about the elements. That's not to say we don't get our share of rainstorms—and even a few snowy days—but for the most part, Mother Nature is good to us. Feel free to check for yourself.

Check Duke's Events Calendar for daily updates on campus happenings, and don't forget to visit the main Duke Web site for the latest university news.

OVERNIGHT VISITS

Each fall, The Office of Undergraduate Admissions assists in arranging overnight hosting for high school seniors visiting Duke. With appropriate advance notice (2 weeks or more), our student hosting coordinator arranges for a current Duke student to host visiting high school students for one night.

Hosting for fall, 2009 has concluded. Information about overnight visits in the fall of 2010 will be available by late summer, 2010.

The best way to appreciate all that Duke offers is to see it firsthand. Whether you take a student-led campus tour or visit on your own, we hope you'll have a chance to check out this beautiful campus. Until you're able to visit in person, though, we invite you to take the Duke virtual tour.
