The Duke Campus: Visiting Duke: Where To Stay & Eat

Whether you seek a charming B&B or the most basic amenities, there is no shortage of lodging in the Durham/Triangle area. Here are three resources to help you find accommodations nearby:

These listings are not an endorsement or recommendation by Duke University; they are meant only as a resource for parents and guests of the University.

If you want to stay on campus, the Washington Duke Inn, built in the style of an old English country inn, is known for its lovely setting and gracious hospitality.

After a day of touring the campus or sitting in on a stimulating lecture, you will no doubt be starving. Fortunately, food on and off campus is readily available and very, very good. Increasingly, Durham is recognized for its colony of nationally acclaimed chefs, and the Triangle area in general is packed with great places to eat, whether it's down-home American, Asian fusion, Jamaican, German, or Mediterranean.

But since you're here, why not try some infamous North Carolina barbecue. In Durham, you can get both the Eastern North Carolina style (chopped pork and a clear sauce of vinegar, pepper, and salt) and the Western North Carolina style (chopped or sliced pork with a red sauce that includes ketchup and sugar along with its other ingredients).

Which version is better is a point of contention for most North Carolinians, so we won't try to recommend one over the other. Just know that it's all good.
