How can I find out what's going on at Duke?Anytime you want to know what's happening on our campus, you can log on to our Web site. And if you have questions or concerns about your son or daughter, give us a call, and we'll help in any way we can. Duke parents can also subscribe to a special parent newsletter, published twice a year by the Division of Student Affairs. It is designed to provide you with a snapshot of current news and activities on campus. In addition, you can keep up-to-date on university news by reading the student newspaper, The Chronicle, or subscribing to the eDuke newsletter. Can I come for a visit? We'll let you work that out with your son or daughter, but as far as we're concerned, sureāall Duke parents are welcome here! We also invite all Duke parents to the Duke Parents' and Family Weekend, which is held in October. I'm sending my child halfway around the world! Help!As one of the top American universities, Duke attracts many international students (more than 400 undergraduates are from another country). Some travel to us from as far away as Kazakhstan; some have never even been outside their home countries before coming to Duke. We help all our students adjust successfully, manage their culture shock, find foods that remind them of home, make friends, and sort out visas. There are exceptional services and resources to help international students adjust to Duke, including those described at http://ihouse.studentaffairs.duke.edu/. For additional information please see International Applicants within this site. |
