Condemning Anti-Asian Violence

Admissions Statement, March 19, 2021

The Duke University Undergraduate Admissions Office shares in the outrage at the ongoing and recent violence against Asians, Asian Americans, and Pacific Islanders (AAPI). We condemn the hate, racism, xenophobia, and often misogyny that drive it, and we support and stand in solidarity with our students and all members of the AAPI community.

We grieve for the eight people murdered earlier this week: Delaina Ashley Yaun Gonzalez, Paul Andre Michels, Xiaojie Tan, Daoyou Feng, Hyun Jung Grant, Suncha Kim, Soon Chung Park, and Yong Ae Yue. We join with President Price in condemning violence and seeking justice.

We reaffirm our commitment to anti-racism and to our role in seeking and creating a student community that values, embraces, and is made stronger by a wide range of backgrounds, opportunities, races, ethnicities, and experiences.
