80% of Duke undergraduates are enrolled in the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. Trinity offers 48 majors, 50 minors, 23 certificates and an option for students to design their own major. Students can combine up to three academic pathways and they do not have to be related. With a flexible liberal arts curriculum, students explore diverse disciplines and create new ways of combining them together.

CONSTELLATIONS + FOCUS

ACADEMIC ADVENTURES FOR THE INTELLECTUAL

The First-Year Experience is where your Duke journey begins—connecting your classes, your community, and your curiosity from day one. All Trinity students join a small cohort through Constellations or FOCUS, exploring a shared question alongside faculty and peers. FOCUS students live together in the same residence hall, creating a close-knit community that extends learning beyond the classroom. Through engaging courses and experiences beyond the classroom, you’ll dive into topics like artificial intelligence, climate change, and society—building meaningful connections, expanding how you think, and laying a strong foundation for everything that comes next at Duke.
